“If not me, then who? If not now, then when?

                                                       (Matthew West)

Susan Rife is a native resident of Ohio.  Born in Akron, Susan grew up in Uniontown and graduated from Lake High School.  Susan has spent much of her life working with children.  She worked at Christian Children’s Home of Ohio and Lutheran Family Services of Virginia.  Susan also taught pre-school and ran an in home day care for many years, until her youngest son was diagnosed with bone cancer.  After two years of treatments, Lucas was cancer free and Susan was then employed by North Canton City Schools.  For the next seventeen years Susan worked with Special Education students, from pre-school to fifth grade.  Susan retired in May 2016.

After the death of Lenna Moser, in September 2012, the Bible study group that both Susan and Lenna attended, wanted to do something in Lenna’s memory. We took one hundred and fifty dresses to Haiti in early 2013.  Upon returning Susan found that God had bigger plans.  Many people continued to donate supplies needed to make more dresses.  At that time it was decided to form Lenna’s Ladybugs.  Then in 2014, after the urging of Tom Killian of Mercy Partners, the board of directors was named and Lenna’s Ladybugs became a 501c3, non profit.

Susan is very active in her local church, having served as Children’s Director, VBS Director, Deaconess, Sunday School Superintendent, and Board Member.  Susan also does public speaking to women’s groups and to promote Lenna’s Ladybugs to interested organizations.

Serving as President of Lenna’s Ladybugs has been a faith journey for Susan.  Fully relying on God and the many volunteers to make Lenna’s Ladybugs a success.  Susan is looking forward to experiencing God’s plans and blessings for Lenna’s Ladybugs.

Susan, along with her husband,Tom, and their three children, have camped and hiked across America, having visited forty-eight states. They hope to travel with their three grand children in the future.

Michelle Turner

Michelle Turner grew up in Ohio and moved to Florida in 1973 after graduating from Glenwood High School in Canton Ohio. In 1999 Michelle moved back to Ohio from the Silicon Valley to care for her very ill father. Michelle’s father passed away in August of 1999. What a wonderful five months they had after being separated by so many miles for almost 26 years. Michelle decided to stay in Ohio, instead of returning to her job in the Silicon Valley, to be closer to her only brother.

Michelle felt God was calling her to take a more active role in her church and so she joined the missions committee in early 2014. In June of 2014 Michelle and her husband attended the North American Christian Conference along with 2 other couples from their church. During that conference Susan Rife asked Michelle to help her take her small mission to the next step to honor Lenna Moser and become a non-profit in order to reach more children in Haiti and other third world countries.

What an adventure of which the Lord has allowed Michelle to be a part. Although Michelle had a lot of experience in banking, accounting and corporate management both domestic and international, this was a big leap of faith that God would lead her along the way on what was needed to get the approval of a 501 (c) 3. In the first quarter of 2015 we received notification that our paperwork had been approved. Michelle gives God all the glory for this process going so smoothly and it being a sign that God would greatly bless the mission. And God has greatly blessed us and our mission!

Michelle is the Financial Controller of Schott Performance Fabrics, Treasurer of Greenwood Christian Church, and Secretary/Treasurer for Lenna’s Ladybugs. Michelle also serves on the Stewardship and Mission Committees at Greenwood, as well as a Board Member and Trustee for Greenwood Christian Church
